Intermediate and advanced challenges like cartwheels, round-offs and hand-stands require firm support...the mat cannot give too much or be too “squishy” or the user’s support and balance may be lost. Polyethylene mats offer this kind of firm surface, with just a little “give” on impact. Their semi-firmness also means they cannot “bottom-out” into the floor underneath, no matter how hard the landing or how heavy the user.
